About this place
Cottonwood Trail is a 10-mile there-and-back walk on the southwest side of Kanab, for walkers and riders.
It slopes up and down through several drainages, weaving along the foothills at the base of the Vermilion Cliffs.
It passes through pinion and juniper, so there are native plants and wildlife to look at as you go.
This trail is for foot and horse traffic only. No bicycles and no motor vehicles.
Dogs are welcome, but their waste goes home with you.
The trailhead has a graveled parking area, an information kiosk, and a small picnic area with a table and a grill. There is nothing else.
The surface is mostly clay. Keep off it when it is wet or snow covered, to protect the trail.

Getting there
In Kanab, start where Highway 89 meets Highway 89A. Go south on Highway 89A for 0.9 miles to Kanab Creek Drive. Turn right and follow Kanab Creek Drive 1.9 miles to Stansfield Drive. Turn right again and the trailhead is 0.5 miles along.
